I have to admit that I love trying new products. Suave is a product line that I have had decent luck with and when I heard that they now had dry shampoo, I was excited to give it a whirl. I had never considered using a dry shampoo before. It just seemed to me that if your hair was oily or dirty that maybe you should just wash it. But, I can understand the occasional use of a dry shampoo product for anyone that for one reason or another can't get their hair or scalp wet to wash it in the traditional way.

I received a coupon in the mail for a free Suave product of my choosing so I picked up the dry shampoo at Target. The regular price for this product in the 5oz. size at Target was $2.98 the day that I purchased it so it's reasonably priced. I choose the one for fine, straight hair since that describes my hair type.

The Review

Personally I wasn't really all that impressed with it. I followed the directions on the can right down to shaking it during the application. I was on day two since the last time I washed my hair (which is normally two or three times a week) even though I do shower every day with my hair pulled up and out of the way so it doesn't get wet.

My hair is not overly oily so there's no oddities on my head that should have changed the way the product works. I held the can about 9 inches away, parted my hair off, sprayed it toward the roots and then lightly rubbed it in with my hand. I will say that it smells absolutely wonderful which is common for Suave products and a plus for this one.

It didn't leave a powdery film but something about it just wasn't right. I use a flat iron on my hair every day so maybe that's where my dislike comes from. When I straightened my bangs, the hair color became extremely dark and flat. I did watch a few videos (including the original from Suave's website where I earned the coupon) and did not see one where they used any styling tools like flat irons or curling irons after using the dry shampoo so it is possible that using heat afterward is just not a good idea.

The hair was limp and still acted like it hadn't been washed in two days. The appearance wasn't much different until I used the flat iron. The hair color darkened and it felt clean but actually looked dirtier than when I started. I finally gave up and after the second time using this product, I defaulted to washing my hair on both attempts.

Personally, I think it's just all around a better idea to just wash your hair with shampoo and water instead of trying this. I don't know if all dry shampoos are the same because this is the only one I have tried, but I was completely disappointed in the Suave Professionals Dry Shampoo spray.

A side note: As an air freshener, it rocks because the scent really is amazing!

Just like you, I got the free coupon from Suave and chose the Dry Shampoo. I loved the smell, but that was about it. I followed the directions on the bottle and ended up with flat, greasy looking hair. It was worse than before using the dry shampoo. I am so glad that I didn't actually have to spend any money on this.

Great review on this shampoo. Always good to get the information from somehow who has tried it themselves!
