Product Review- Purex Complete 3 in 1 Laundry Sheets Laundry Detergent

Cute video on how to use Purex Complete 3 in 1
Let me start by saying I've never been one to use dryer sheets because I have allergies and usually end up clawing myself to death if my clothes are put in the dryer with a dryer sheet. I was a little apprehensive about trying these when they first came out but Purex is one laundry detergent that I can use so I thought it might be worth it.
Purex is made by the Dial Corporation, which means it is an American Company and that's always a plus in my book. The packaging says it is made of recyclable material and these have received the Good Housekeeping seal of approval. There are 2 spots on the sides of the flip up lid that says "sniff here" so you can choose which scent you like the best before you buy it.
It does contain sufactants and according to the package, if these come in contact with your eyes you are supposed to flush them with water for 15 minutes. If you eat the product, which I DO NOT recommend, you'll want to rinse out your mouth, do NOT induce vomiting and call a physician for further instructions. Look, it's laundry detergent not a Big Mac so don't eat it! (Sorry but that info is actually on the box... except the whole Big Mac sentence.)
The first thing I noticed about these is that the scent is very strong. I mean VERY strong. You really can smell it outside of the box. I think they do make an unscented version so if you are at all sensitive to smells, you will want to go that route. I've been tempted to lay one of these sheets under the edge of the couch because I'm sure it will be a great room freshener.
The way that it works is easy. You throw one of these in when you throw your clothes into the washer. It contains the laundry detergent, fabric softener and an anti-static ingredient that will be released as you clothes are drying. You just throw it in and forget it. No more trying to remember to add the Downy ball in the washer or finding out you are out of dryer sheets. It's all wrapped up in one nice little package for you.
I originally purchased the two pack trial size of these because I had overage that had to be used up at Walmart and I wanted to try them. After using the first one, I found out that it is in fact a nice laundry detergent/fabric softener. My clothes smelled great and everything was nice and soft. No static at all and it holds up to bleach for the occasional load of whites that need it.
Inside the two pack trial packages were coupons for $1.00 off the larger packages. Since the expiration dates at the time were 6 months out, I waited for them to go on sale and bought 7 boxes once they reached what I thought was a really good sale price, $2.99 after the coupon. Regular retail price on the 22 count size can vary from $7.99 to $8.99 depending on the store you buy them at.
I really like these and the only negative thing I could think of is that you can't control the amount that you are using. It doesn't matter if you are washing just a few items or an entire load, you have to use the entire sheet which just seems like a bit of an occasional waste to me. I haven't tried cutting one in half yet for doing a smaller load but that may be something to consider.
Would I buy this product again?
Yes I will. As long as I have a coupon. No coupon unfortunately no purchase. At the regular retail price of 36 cents per sheet, well... that's a little pricey for my blood. I did stock up with these the last time I could combine a sale with a coupon and got the boxes that I have in my stash for $2.99 each.
